
Flames Fall to Eagles in Big South Matchup

The Liberty Flames tennis team, playing its fifth match in six days, dropped a 6-1 decision to the Winthrop Eagles in Big South Conference tennis action Saturday afternoon in Rock Hill, S.C.
Winthrop opened the day by taking all three doubles matches, including a one-point decision at No. 1 doubles. In singles competition, the Flames earned a win at No. 6, when Juan Reyes captured a lengthy matchup with Winthrop's Thiago Barbosa. Reyes has now won two of his last three matches. Despite the Columbian native's win, the Eagles claimed the remaining matches and concluded their victory.
With the loss, Liberty drops to 3-9 on the season and 0-3 in the Big South. The Flames resume play on March 24, as they travel to Richmond, Va., to take on the Richmond Spiders. Match time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
