Paul Stone assumed his role as Assistant Athletic Performance Coach in June 2026. In his current role, Stone creates and implements athletic performance programs for the Liberty field hockey, lacrosse and volleyball programs.
Stone comes to Liberty from Tufts (2023-26), where he was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. He was responsible for men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, indoor and outdoor track & field, cross country, men’s rowing, women’s rowing, men’s swimming & diving and women’s swimming & diving. Earlier in his time at Tufts, he was responsible for men’s and women’s tennis as well as women’s fencing. While at Tufts, the men’s soccer program won the 2025 Division III national title, and the women’s rowing team also won the 2026 Division III national championship.
Prior to his time at Tufts, he was a Graduate Fellow Strength and Conditioning Coach at Merrimack for the 2022-23 school year. He worked with the women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s golf and football programs. Stone spent one year at Duke as a Sports Performance Coaching Assistant (2021-22) and a summer as a Sports Performance Intern at Mullen High School in Denver, Colo. (summer 2021). His other experience included being a Physical Performance Intern for three months in 2021 with USA Rugby Women’s XVs in Glendale, Colo. Stone got his first experience in the field while at Metropolitan State University (Denver, Colo.) as a Strength and Conditioning Intern (Aug. 2020-Feb. 2021).
Stone earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from MSU Denver in Dec. 2021 and went on to earn a master’s degree in exercise science from Merrimack in May 2023. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and as a Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).
Stone grew up in Los Angeles, Calif. and Denver, Colo. He currently resides in Lynchburg.
