Nicholas Thomason joined the Flames staff as an assistant coach in 2016 and was promoted to the program’s head coach in August 2021.
Thomason has helped to transform the program into a large coed cheerleading team, and to transition from the D1 Division to the D1A Division. During his time coaching, he has helped lead the program into the final round of UCA College Nationals twice, including a fourth-place finish for Cheer and third-place finish for Sparky in 2021.
Thomason began his cheerleading career at North Greenville for two years, before transferring to Liberty in 2016, where he started pursuing a master’s degree. He competed with the Flames at the UCA College National Championship in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Thomason has staffed for Christian Cheerleaders of America since 2010, and for the Universal Cheerleading Association since 2011.
Thomason was born and raised in South Carolina where he received his undergraduate degree from North Greenville University in 2010.
Thomason currently works at Liberty University as a Business Data Analyst and is pursuing a second master's degree. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Klaire, whom he met on the Liberty cheerleading team, and their two sons – Liam and Ledger.
