Cyrus Salehi joined the Flames men's soccer staff as an assistant coach in July of 2025.
A 20-year high school and club coaching veteran, Salehi comes to Liberty after two years as the head coach of the Fossil Ridge girls’ soccer team in Fort Collins, Colo. Under his guidance, the Sabercats posted a 28-6-3 record and won the school’s first 5A State Championship in 2025.
Before Fossil Ridge, Salehi led the Liberty Common School men’s program in Fort Collins for eight seasons. He led the Eagles to a 133-31-9 record and first-place league finishes in the 3A Patriot League each season of his tenure. In 2017, he led Liberty Common to a state championship.
During his 10 years of coaching in the Fort Collins area, Salehi’s teams posted a combined record of 161-37-6, played in state six semifinal and three state championship games and won two state titles.
Salehi also coached on the club level, working with Colorado Rapids Academy and Arsenal Colorado. This past spring, he and former Liberty men’s soccer associate head coach Jake Berry coached the UPSL Lynchburg FC team to a first-place finish in the DMV-B Division and won the DMV Regional Championship.
Salehi began his coaching career at Sonoma State in 1995. He also played soccer during his time at the school. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Sonoma State in 1995.
Salehi and his wife, Becky, have three children. Ashley, Allison and Josh. Allison is currently the strength and conditioning coach for the Liberty Men’s Club Hockey team and the Women’s Performance Dance team. Josh is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Liberty and serves as a manager for the Flames men’s soccer team.
