Colbie Cornell assumed his role as Marketing Assistant for Fan Experience and Promotions in June 2024.
In his current position, Cornell is responsible for creating and executing marketing plans and promotions for the Men’s Soccer program while serving as the secondary contact for Liberty Softball. He also oversees the LUnatics Student Rewards Program, which involves app maintenance, user engagement and promotion.
Prior to coming to Liberty, Cornell served as the Lead Intern of Marketing & Fan Engagement at Oklahoma. In that one year, he was the Marketing Lead for the Oklahoma outdoor track & field season and managed the Sooner Rewards Student Incentives Program. With Sooner Rewards, he handled graphic design for social media and email marketing efforts and helped with promotion and execution of attendance-related activities and prizing. Cornell also assisted with marketing efforts for Oklahoma women’s soccer, men’s basketball and men’s gymnastics.
With Oklahoma women’s soccer, Cornell helped with marketing efforts to obtain a program-record attendance for the 2023 season. He assisted with a student attendance campaign for Sooners men’s basketball that generated an all-time single-game student attendance record of 3,124 at McCasland Field House. With men’s gymnastics, he aided with a marketing campaign that generated a single-meet attendance record of 2,111 and single-meet student attendance record of 651.
Cornell also gained experience working the NCAA Women’s College World Series, the Big XII Women’s Gymnastics Championship and the MPSF Men’s Gymnastics Championship.
Cornell earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism: advertising from the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at Oklahoma in June 2024. He also earned a minor degree in marketing from the Price College of Business at OU. Cornell is currently pursuing a master’s of business administration degree at Liberty and expects to graduate in May 2026.
Cornell currently resides in Lynchburg.
