Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
Since Liberty is my second university, I had to be strategic in my choices on what I wanted to do with my life. Once I came for my visit, I was fascinated with the campus and the people we met were so nice. My family and I got to see what God wants to offer me academically and athletically here, and I felt led to be here. It's such a beautiful place to be!
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
I pray to God to watch over me and keep me strong and optimistic of my circumstances. I also listen to Disney music before my race. After my race, if I do well, I hit the griddy and thank God for helping me through my race(s).
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
My family inspires me and motivates me to be the person I am today. I wouldn't be who I am without their love, support, and teachings of the gospel.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
When I ran 24.00 at USC by a lean at the finish line. My family and friends were in the stands cheering me on as the announcer said my name, as he was telling the crowd that I won the heat by a "photo finish."
If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
I would choose 2 because it's my favorite number.
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
Tyler Spain, my maternal cousin, Charleston Southern Track & Field. Otto Spain, my maternal cousin, Clemson University Track & Field. Havyn Spain, maternal cousin, Lenoir-Rhyne University Track & Field.
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
For breakfast, my favorite is a bacon, egg, cheese biscuit and hashbrowns. For lunch, my favorite is a turkey burger, or pizza. For dinner, my favorite is chicken and Shrimp Pasta, or pizza. The special meals would be strawberry lemonade with seasoned fries, turkey burger or pizza, Caesar salad, and an Oreo milkshake.
