Luke Marker joins the Liberty track & field coaching staff this year as a volunteer assistant.
Marker was a successful hurdler at Air Force, posting personal-best times of 7.91 in the 60 hurdles and 14.00 in the 110 hurdles. In 2004, he was part of a shuttle hurdle squad which posted the third-fastest time in the U.S. that year, 56.22. Marker competed at the NCAA regional meet and earned Academic All-America honors.
During his high school career at Manson High School, Marker was a multiple-time Washington state champion in the pole vault, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. As a senior, he clocked a 110 hurdles time of 14.01, which was the fastest in the state in any division.
Marker graduated from Air Force with a bachelor’s degree in business in 2004. After that, he proceeded on to complete pilot training and then pilot instructor school at Air Force.
After teaching students how to fly Air Force jets, Marker left Air Force and came to Liberty in 2010. He is currently attending Liberty Theological Seminary and continuing his training as a decathlete.
