McKane Johnson joined the Liberty Men’s Tennis coaching staff in July 2026. Originally from Cumming, Ga., Johnson has consistently displayed dedication and skill, both athletically and academically.
Before stepping into his role at Liberty, Johnson carved out an impressive collegiate tennis career at Georgia State University. Active from 2024 to 2026, Johnson participated in over 30 singles matches and 45 doubles matches.
His journey at Georgia State began following his transfer from Georgia College, where he competed during his freshman year. Notably, during his sophomore year at Georgia State, Johnson served a dual role as a player-coach, a testament to his leadership and strategic acumen. His contributions were pivotal in guiding the Panthers to the SunBelt Championship Semifinals in 2024.
In his final year at Georgia State, Johnson made significant strides on the court, appearing in 20 singles matches in the No. 5 and 6 singles positions. He also made 25 appearances in doubles, securing key victories in the No. 2 doubles position alongside partner Edward Tymes.
Johnson's prowess extended beyond the court, as he demonstrated academic excellence by being named to Georgia State’s President’s List four times and the Dean’s List twice. Additionally, he earned a spot on the SunBelt Commissioner’s list in both 2025 and 2026.
