Rob Jones joined the Liberty men’s basketball program as Associate Head Coach in April of 2022. His primary passion is the commitment to whole person development.
Jones comes to Liberty after serving as Associate Head Coach at the University of Richmond under head coach, Chris Mooney. During his 17 seasons at Richmond, Jones helped lead the Spiders to eight 20-win seasons, nine postseason appearances and final national rankings of No. 24 in 2009-10 and No. 21 in 2010-11, following the team’s run to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. Jones was responsible for on-court coaching, opponent scouting, player development, and recruiting.
Jones began his collegiate coaching career at the University of Alabama Huntsville, working for legendary head coach, Lennie Acuff.
Following the completion of his college education, Jones spent two years coaching at Salem High School in Conyers, Georgia.
Jones graduated from Toccoa Falls College with a bachelor's degree in secondary education and a minor in physical education. As a player, he was an All-South Region performer ranked statistically among the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) leaders in three-point percentage and free throw percentage.
Originally from Jefferson City, Mo., Jones played his prep career at New Bloomfield High School where he was an all-conference and all-district performer in both his junior and senior year. He helped lead the team to the state final four his junior year.
Jones and his wife, Kristina, currently reside in Lynchburg, Va.
