Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
My coach at my previous school was a Christian, and I was able to openly talk about my faith with her. She grew my relationship with Christ through our conversations and check-ins. There were coaching changes at the university, and this ultimately made me believe I needed to go to a Christian school in order to continue to grow my faith and my relationship with Christ. Through conversations with the Liberty coaching staff, I knew that the Lord was calling me to come to Liberty.
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
My favorite quote is "faith over fear". This quote has helped me through the toughest of times. Whenever I step on a line, I say that phrase over and over again in my mind to remind myself that God's got me and through Him all things are possible.
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
Kenyetta Iyevebele, my previous coach, inspires me to never give up and always believe in myself. Kenyetta has been through many trials and tribulations in her life, yet she never fails to look at the positives in life. Freshman year of college, Kenyetta changed my life and cared about me in a way most coaches would never do. She has taught me that I am capable of hard things and that the Lord will never fail me. While she may not be my coach anymore, Kenyetta will always be in my life as a very close friend and mentor.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
Winning the 2021 district cross country championship with my team while wearing the letter “C” on our cheeks in honor of my teammates mom who passed away from breast cancer just a few weeks prior
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
