LFSN Game On recently had a chance to catch up with former Flames' standout Kevin Fogg, detailing his path to the CFL where he is now a rising star with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Fogg, a member of Liberty's squad from 2009 to 2013, earned first-team All-America honors from the Sports Network, Walter Camp Foundation and the College Sporting News in 2011 as a return specialist. He led the country in kickoff return yardage (33.52 yard per return) and finished with a program-record three returns for a touchdown in 2011.
In addition, Fogg completed his career in 2013, earned All-Big South first team honors as a defensive back during his senior season. He finished the 2013 season with 44 tackles (35 solo, nine assisted), seven pass breakups and four interceptions.
The native of Raleigh, N.C., finished his days in a Liberty uniform with 150 career tackles (113 solo, 37 assisted), 17 pass breakups, nine interceptions, four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. For his career, Fogg averaged 25.3 yards per kickoff return, which ranks third best in program history.
Following his career with the Flames, Fogg spent time in 2014 and 2015 in NFL training camps with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins. However, he was cut both seasons just before the 53-man rosters were finalized for those NFL franchises.
During the 2016 offseason, Fogg signed with the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers and he has thrived since crossing the border. During his first season with the team, Fogg has recorded 64 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a sack. He ranks second in the league in punt return average (14.6 yards per return), tied for fifth with three interceptions and No. 12 in total tackles.
