LYNCHBURG, Va. – The bracket has been released for the 2026 CUSA Men's Basketball Championship. Top-seeded Liberty (25-6, 17-3 CUSA), the defending CUSA champion and also this year's outright regular season champion, will begin its quest for back-to-back titles on Wednesday evening.
No. 1 seed Liberty will face the winner of a first round game between No. 8 seed FIU (15-16, 8-12 CUSA) and No. 9 seed Missouri State (14-17, 8-12 CUSA). The Panthers and Bears will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Eastern for the opportunity to play the top-seeded Flames on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.
If Liberty wins on Wednesday, it would advance to play in Friday's first semifinal at 12:30 p.m. Eastern. The title game is set for Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. Eastern. All tournament games will take place at Propst Arena (Huntsville, Ala.) for the third straight year in conjunction with the CUSA Women's Basketball Championship. The semifinals and championship game will air on CBS Sports Network, with all other men's basketball matchups in Huntsville slated for ESPN+.
The Flames will arrive in Huntsville as the CUSA outright regular season champion with a 17-3 league record. Liberty won its first 15 conference games, claimed a school-record 17 games in a row overall and went 73 days between losses. The Flames have earned each of the last two outright CUSA regular season crowns and seven conference regular season and/or division titles in the last eight years. Liberty has four conference tournament titles over the last seven seasons entering this year's CUSA Tournament. Last year, the Flames bested Jacksonville State 79-67 in the CUSA Championship title game to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
Liberty went 2-0 against FIU in the regular season, winning both times in overtime. The Flames bested the host Panthers 97-94 in overtime, Dec. 28 in the CUSA opener. Liberty then edged FIU 90-89 in overtime, Feb. 19 at Liberty Arena. Missouri State was one of only two teams the Flames faced just once in CUSA regular season action. The Flames knocked off the Bears 79-76, Feb. 7 in Lynchburg.
