Auytayakul Recognized as CUSA Athlete of the Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty men's tennis' Siwanat Auytayakul has been named the Conference USA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week following a performance that guided the Flames to 7-0 sweeps over Georgia State and William & Mary, the conference announced Wednesday.
The award marks Liberty's second CUSA Athlete of the Week recognition this season after Rodrigo Santiago Arraez claimed the honor on Feb. 11.
The sophomore claimed his first-ever victory in the No. 1 singles position on Friday against Georgia State. After falling in the first set against Gabriele Datei, Auytayakul controlled the rest of the match, sealing a super-tiebreak 4-6. 6-1, 1-0 (1) triumph.
Moving to No. 2 singles facing William & Mary, the Bangkok, Thailand native handled Oliver Hague 6-4, 7-5. The triumphs moved Auytayakul to 6-6 in singles action this season.
Along with the two singles victories, Auytayakul went 2-0 in the No. 2 doubles position with Chase Robinson.
No. 63 Liberty (7-7) and Auytayakul host a single match this weekend when they take on Tulane (4-6) at 3 p.m. on Friday from the Liberty Tennis Complex.
