
Liberty Posts 3rd Straight Sweep, Defeats New Mexico State 3-0

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty overcame a 12-5 set-three deficit, rallying to win the set and match, 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-22) over New Mexico State, Friday at Liberty Arena.
With the win, its fourth in a row, Liberty improves to 12-5, including 4-1 in Conference USA play. Meanwhile, the Aggies fall to 8-10, 1-4 in CUSA play.

- Liberty outhit New Mexico State .288-.069 for the match, with the Lady Flames leading in kills (41-32), assists (39-31), aces (4-3), digs (52-49) and blocks.
- Jenna Otts scored a match-high 10 kills, while Carly O'Brien totaled nine kills (.500), two aces, seven digs and one block. Alison Bierwagen led all players in both assists (23) and digs (15). Paige Overcash sent down nine kills, while Laney Daniell and Layla Collins tied for the match high with three blocks each. Melis Ural collected 10 digs, while Addison hart hit .500 with four kills.
- For New Mexico State, Tess Fuqua (13 digs), Ashley Herman, and Jaelynn Kohli all scored seven kills each. Maggie Lightheart and Makayla Martinez both recorded 10 digs.
- Liberty won the first two sets, but the Lady Flames faced a 12-5 deficit in the third. The Lady Flames staged a 10-3 run, tying the score at 15-all on Hart's kill. The Aggies won the race to 20 at 20-18 and led 21-19 before Liberty went ahead 23-21 with a 4-0 rally. NM State narrowed it to 23-22, but Otts and Laney Daniell sealed the sweep with back-to-back kills.
- New Mexico State leads Liberty 4-2 all-time in volleyball. Today was the Lady Flames' first win in the series since beating the Aggies 3-1 on Oct. 7, 2023 in Lynchburg.
- Ural has collected 10 or more digs in each of the last 15 matches. That is the longest streak of 10-dig matches by a Lady Flame since Macy Phillips ended the 2019 season with 18 straight 10-dig contests.
