LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Mahogany Mobley (Women's Track Athlete of the Week) and Markus White (Men's Field Athlete of the Week) have both been recognized by CUSA as a result of their standout performances at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
This marks the first career CUSA weekly recognition for either Mobley or White, both of whom are in their second year at Liberty.
A redshirt senior from Hampton, Ga., Mobley recorded a trio of lofty finishes in Blacksburg. She placed fourth in the women's 200 (indoor personal-best 24.72), second in the 300 (program-record 38.67) and second in the 4 x 400 relay (3:43.45).
Mobley took down the Liberty 300 record for the second time in as many races this season. Her 54.48 anchor leg split closed out the Lady Flames' fastest indoor 4 x 400 clocking since 2020. Mobley now ranks No. 1 in CUSA for the 300, No. 2 for the 4 x 400 and No. 5 for the 200 this season.
A redshirt sophomore from Lynchburg, Va., White was the men's long jump runner-up with an indoor personal-best leap of 24-11.25. That mark ranks No. 1 in CUSA, No. 21 nationally and No. 3 in program history for the Flames.
Mobley and White are both entered in this week's Liberty Open. The now one-day meet will take place Friday at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex with events beginning at 9 a.m.
