One of the nation's oldest individual awards has its eye on Liberty's Vaughn Blue as he has been named to the Walter Camp Award Preseason Watch List.
    Â
The Walter Camp Award is presented to the nation's most outstanding player and is the fourth-oldest player individual honor in college football.
    Â
The 2025 watch list, which is presented by Crabtree Lexus of New Haven, included 38 offensive players (21 quarterbacks, 11 running backs, five receivers/tight ends and one two-way player) along with eight players from the defensive side of the ball.
    Â
Players from 37 different schools, representing 11 conferences (including independents), are represented on the preseason watch list.
    Â
Blue was one of nine Group of Five football players named to the listing, including one other Conference USA player (FIU quarterback Keyone Jenkins).
    Â
This is the second preseason accolade for Liberty's redshirt sophomore. The running back was named to the 2025 Athlon Sports All-CUSA Preseason All-Conference first team.
    Â
Blue saw playing time in all 12 games in 2024, including starts against UTEP, Jax State and Sam Houston. He ranked fourth on the team in rushing, finishing the season with 35 carries for 207 yards and one rushing touchdown.
    Â
The native of Mount Pleasant, S.C., averaged 5.9 yards per carry. He also finished the season with seven receptions for 43 yards.
    Â
One of his best games of 2024 came against CUSA champion Jax State. He carried the ball five times for 50 yards, including a 25-yard rushing touchdown.
    Â
The Walter Camp Award watch list will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in early November, and three finalists will be announced in early December.
    Â
The 2025 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 133 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced on ESPN's College Football Awards Show on December 12.
