• After a five-game road trip, the Liberty Flames return to Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium for a three-game CUSA series against the Kennesaw State Owls this weekend. The Flames and Owls have not met since 2023, when the two teams were members of the ASUN Conference.
• Liberty fell out at Wake Forest 6-4 on Tuesday to finish a five-game road swing 2-3. This past weekend, Liberty dropped two out of its three games in a Conference USA series at Louisiana Tech.
• The Flames have posted a 17-7 record at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium this season.
• Bradley LeCroy was named the eighth head coach in Flames' history in July 2024. He is in his third year as a head coach after two years at VCU.
Power Surge
• First baseman Jaxon Sorenson had quite a weekend at the plate during Liberty's series against New Mexico State, March 21-23. Four of his five hits during the series were home runs, and he belted a home run in each game of the series.
• The junior became the second Flame in as many years to hit three home runs in three consecutive games, as Brian McClellin also achieved this feat at New Mexico State (April 5-7) last season. Before that, a Liberty player had not belted a home run in three consecutive games since Brady Gulakowski late in 2022 (May 21-25).
• Sorenson hit .385 with eight RBI and finished the series with a 1.308 slugging percentage.
• He started the weekend by hitting a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning last Friday for a 6-5 Flames win. Saturday, he belted a three-run home run and Sunday, he hit two home runs.
• After hitting his 12th home run of the season at Wake Forest on Tuesday, Sorenson leads Liberty and is fifth in Conference USA.
• The first baseman also leads the Flames in RBI and is tied with Camden Tory for the team lead in runs scored. Sorenson is tied for fifth in CUSA with 41 RBI and is third for seventh in the conference with 40 runs scored.
Big Start for Blair
• Sophomore right-hander Ben Blair has met all expectations for him in 2025.
• Blair, who was selected to the 2025 CUSA Preseason All-Conference team by the conference's head coaches, has posted a 4-2 record with a 3.13 ERA over 54 2/3 innings in nine starts this season. The right-hander has struck out 61 and walked 20.
• He is currently among the CUSA leaders in several categories. Blair begins the weekend fourth in ERA, tied ninth in wins, third in innings pitched and fifth in strikeouts.
• Blair picked up his first CUSA Pitcher of the Week honor of his career, pitching six shutout innings in his first start of the year, combining with relievers Caleb Lingenfelter and Tyler August for a 3-0 blanking of the St. John's Red Storm in game two of a doubleheader at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium on Feb. 14. The sophomore scattered five hits, striking out 11 and walking two batters. He did not allow a batter past second base during his outing.
