LONG BEACH, Calif. – Liberty's lone athlete in action at the Beach Invitational on Friday, Kellen Kimes finished eighth in the men's hammer.
Kimes' top mark of the day (206-8) came in round five, securing his second top-10 placement in as many days at Jack Rose Track.
The sophomore had previously recorded a personal-best 219-4 men's hammer effort for third place during Thursday's Pacific Coast Invitational at the same venue.

The Flames will wrap up a busy week of competition on Saturday with a pair of meets in California (Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays) and two more in Virginia (Virginia Challenge and WildCat Invitational).
