
Flames to Face Jax State in CUSA Road Series

• After wrapping up a 7-2 homestand with a 5-3 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers Tuesday, the Liberty Flames travel to Jacksonville, Ala., for the first time in program history to meet the Jack-sonville State Gamecocks in a three-game Conference USA series this weekend. The two teams have met in a three-game series each of the last two seasons, both in Lynchburg, with the Flames taking two of the three games each time. In the first series, the two teams were part of the ASUN Conference, while last season, the two were first-year members of CUSA.
• Friday's series opener will be Liberty's first road game since an 8-2 loss at then No. 10 Clemson on March 12. The Flames are 4-4 on the road this season. This weekend's series will be Liberty's first CUSA road series of 2025.
• Bradley LeCroy was named the eighth head coach in Flames' history in July 2024. He is in his third year as a head coach after two years at VCU.
Power Surge
• First baseman Jaxon Sorenson had quite a weekend at the plate during Liberty's series against New Mexico State this past weekend. Four of the his five hits during the series were home runs and he belted a home run in each game of the series.
• The junior becomes the second Flame in as many years to hit three home runs in three consecutive games as Brian McClellin also hit a home run in three straight games at New Mexico State (April 5-7) last season. Before that, a Liberty player had not belted a home run in three successive games since Brady Gulakowski late in 2022 (May 21, 24-25).
• Sorenson hit .385 with eight RBI and finished the series with a 1.308 slugging percentage.
• He started the weekend by hitting a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning last Friday for a 6-5 Flames win. Saturday, he belted a three-run home run and Sunday, he hit two home runs.
• Sorenson leads Liberty with nine home runs and is second in Conference USA. The first baseman also leads the Flames in RBI  (29)and Runs Scored (31). He is third in RBI and fifth in runs scored in CUSA.
Troyer Drives'em In
• Right fielder Camden Troyer has been Liberty leading hitter with a .341 batting average and  knocked in a team-high 14 runs over the last 11 games. The senior enters the weekend tied for sixth in CUSA with 26 RBI.
• Troyer leads the Flames with 14 hits and paces Liberty with five multi-hit and four multi-RBI games over the span. He has scored 11 runs and is 10th in CUSA with 26 runs scored.
• The former Clemson Tiger started his RBI burst on March 11 against his former team with a home run and triple, two RBI and two runs scored.  He hit his fourth home run of the year in his first at bat of the game.Â
• On March 16, he collected three hits and drove in a season-high five RBI in Liberty's win over Princeton. He also pitched a scoreless inning in the game.
• Troyer has been one of the tougher batters to strike out so far this season. The senior currently is the toughest batter to strike out in CUSA and 27th nationally.  He has struck once every 14 at bats.  In 98 at bats, the outfielder has struck out seven times.
