
Liberty Hosts New Mexico St. to Open Conference Play

• Winners of five straight games, the Liberty Flames open Conference USA play by hosting the New Mexico State Aggies for a three-game series this weekend. The Aggies will visit Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium for the first time.
• Liberty is in the midst of a nine-game homestand, its longest of the season. The Flames defeated No. 11 Wake Forest 11-8 at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium on Tuesday. Wake Forest was the third nationally-ranked team Liberty has beaten this season. The Flames had defeated then No. 12 NC State and No. 17 Duke on the road
• Liberty has won nine of its last 11 games and eight consecutive games at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium.  The Flames are 12-2 at home this season.

Barone Among RBI Leaders
• Outfielder Nick Barone enters the weekend leading the Flames and is second in CUSA with 27 RBI.
• The corner outfielder also leads the Flames with six home runs on the season, tying him for fourth in CUSA.
• On Feb. 26 at Duke, Barone went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI. For the West Virginia transfer, it was his first two home run game of his career. His two home runs were part of five for the Flames in the game.
• Barone has hit .298 with 22 runs scored. He has a .571 slugging percentage to lead the Flames.

• Since taking over at second base on March 4 at Campbell, Cal Early has provided the Liberty with some offensive spark. In 11 games, the freshman is hitting .382 with 13 hits and 12 walks.Â
• Early leads CUSA with a .545 on-base percentage and has scored 10 times. He reached base in 12 consecutive games, the most by a Flame this season.
• The infielder has hit .421 with six walks and a .593 on-base percentage over six games since taking over as Liberty's leadoff hitter at Clemson on March 12. He has scored a team-high seven runs and reached base in all six games.
