2/23/2025 6:22:00 PM | Baseball
For the second afternoon in a row, Liberty jumped out to an early lead, this time, a 3-0 advantage after one inning of play. However, the Flames would have trouble adding on throughout the rest of the contest, leaving runners in scoring positions on multiple occasions.
After being held hitless throughout the first five innings by starting pitcher Dylan Mathiesen, Xavier cut into Liberty's lead with a two-run home run in the sixth, before rallying in the eighth to take the advantage.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Flames moved a runner into scoring position with two out. However, Xavier retired the next batter to close out the victory.
Liberty falls to 5-2. Xavier moves to 4-3.
