CLEMSON, S.C. – Liberty's Reese Webster recorded the first victory of her junior season, Friday at the Bob Pollock Invitational. She won the women's 60 final in a season-best 7.34, headlining day one action at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex.
Women's Day 1 Recap
Webster recorded the slowest semifinal time among the eight finalists (7.42), but made the most of her opportunity. A season-best and conference-leading 7.34 clocking in her third race of the day earned Webster her fifth 60-meter dash title as a Lady Flame. She went 4-for-4 in 60 finals a year ago, culminating with the 2024 CUSA crown.
Indea Cartwright successfully qualified for the women's 60 hurdles final. However, she did not run the final after successfully lowering her season best to 8.32 in the semifinals.
Maddy Merritt continued her strong sophomore season, clocking a lifetime-best 56.38 in the women's 400.
Men's Day 1 Recap
Neither Eddy Vu nor Revell Webster was able to post the 6.74 required in the semifinals to earn a spot in the men's 60 final. However, Vu (6.73 in prelims) and Webster (6.84 in semifinals) each posted season-best times during the opening rounds. Vu's 6.73 ties him with Jacob Swinton's performance at the same facility in 1996 as the No. 3 time in program history.
Isaiah Idore just missed out on the men's 60 hurdles final by one spot and three hundredths of a second after crossing the line in 7.93 during the semifinal round.
