LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty men's basketball team has announced its 2024-25 non-conference schedule.
The Flames will open the season against Valparaiso in the Total Athlete Tip-Off at the new Wooden Family Fieldhouse in Xenia, Ohio on Nov. 4. Five days later (Nov. 9), Liberty will play at 2024 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) champion Seattle as a part of a two-year scheduling initiative between Conference USA and the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The Flames' other game against a WAC foe will be a home contest against 20-win UT Arlington on Dec. 21.
This will be Liberty's second year participating in the Field of 68 Media Network Tip-Off event with Florida Atlantic and Charleston. This year, the event will head to Charleston, S.C. and will be at Liberty in 2025. Liberty will face 2023 Final Four participant FAU first on Nov. 16, followed by a game at back-to-back CAA champion Charleston on Nov. 17.
Liberty will compete in the 2024 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam Nov. 22-25. The eight-team field includes: Liberty, Kansas State, McNeese, UAB, Louisiana, Longwood, George Washington and Illinois State. The Flames' first game will be a quarterfinal matchup with the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m. Eastern (6:30 p.m. Atlantic).
The Flames' home opener at Liberty Arena will be against Carolina University on Nov. 12.
The Flames enter the 2024-25 campaign having claimed eight total titles over the last six seasons – three ASUN Championship crowns, four ASUN regular-season titles and an ASUN division title. Liberty has posted a 149-51 combined record over the past six seasons, good for the eighth most wins in the country during that span.
The Flames enter their second season in Conference USA this upcoming year. Liberty unveiled its second CUSA schedule in mid-July.
