CUSA Release
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty men's basketball team has gotten its first look at its Conference USA slate for the 2024-25 season. The CUSA office unveiled the full conference schedule on Thursday afternoon, with the Flames set to play 18 league games.
Liberty will ring in 2025 in a big way, tipping off its second year of CUSA play on Jan. 2 by hosting defending league champion Western Kentucky at Liberty Arena. It will mark the second straight year Liberty faces WKU in its CUSA opener. The Flames will then wrap up their conference-opening homestand against Middle Tennessee two days later (Jan. 4).
Liberty's first two CUSA road contests of the season will be played against the top two teams in last year's regular-season standings, Sam Houston (21-12, 13-3 CUSA) and Louisiana Tech (22-10, 12-4 CUSA), Jan. 9 and 11.
Liberty will play 18 league games in its second season Conference USA against nine different opponents (home-and-home). All 18 of those contests will be on Thursdays and Saturdays during the months of January, February and March.
The addition of Kennesaw State is the lone change to the league membership from 2023-24. The Flames and Owls spent five seasons (2018-19 through 2022-23) as fellow ASUN Conference members. Liberty posted a 9-2 record against Kennesaw State in those five years. The Flames and Owls will meet for the first time on Jan. 30 (away) and at Liberty Arena on March 1.
The 10 teams in Conference USA for the 2024-25 season include: Liberty, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Kennesaw State, Jacksonville State, FIU, Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston, New Mexico State and UTEP.
For the second straight year, the CUSA Men's Basketball Championship will be played at Propst Arena in Huntsville, Ala. The event will take place in conjunction with the CUSA Women's Basketball Championship, March 11-15.
The Flames have claimed eight total titles over the last six years – three ASUN Championship crowns, four ASUN regular-season titles and an ASUN division title. Liberty has posted a 149-51 combined record over the past six seasons.
Liberty's full non-conference schedule will be announced when it is finalized.
Single-game tickets for Conference USA games will go on sale Dec. 2 to Flames Club members, Dec. 5 to season ticket holders and waitlist members and Dec. 10 to the public.
