
3 Flames Tabbed to CSC Academic All-District® Men’s Basketball Team

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty men's basketball fifth-year seniors Kyle Rode and Shiloh Robinson, along with sophomore Colin Porter, have been tabbed to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team for their efforts in the classroom, as announced today by CSC.
This is the second straight year Rode and Robinson have earned CSC Academic All-District recognition. Porter garnered inclusion on the squad for the first time. Liberty is the only team in Conference USA to have student-athletes recognized on the CSC Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team.
To earn inclusion on the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, a starter or key reserve, have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Voting has now begun for the 2023 College Sports Communications Academic All-America® Men's Basketball Teams. The first, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on April 17.
A fifth-year senior forward, Rode will graduate in May with a master's degree in executive leadership. He is currently maintaining a 3.87 GPA in his graduate studies. Rode earned a bachelor's degree in information systems in May 2022 while carrying a 3.57 GPA. He was tabbed to the 2023-24 Conference USA Men's Basketball All-Academic team and has earned other academic honors. He was tabbed the 2022-23 ASUN Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is a four-time ASUN Academic Honor Roll recipient.
On the basketball court, Rode collected numerous awards during his final season, including: All-CUSA second team, Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List (Jan. 10), Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week (Nov. 21), Lou Henson National Player of the Week (Nov. 20), two-time CUSA Player of the Week (Nov. 13, Nov. 20), 2023 Myrtle Beach Invitational MVP and the MVP of the Hall of Fame Series game against Charlotte (Nov. 10).
Rode, a forward from Lexington, Ky., averaged a team-leading 14.2 points per game this past season and made 100 three-pointers, tied for the fifth most in a season in school history. Rode made 3.13 three-pointers per game, currently 17th best in the country. His 100 total threes are 26th most nationally at present. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Rode wrapped up his Liberty career with 1,498 points (No. 14 in school history), 627 rebounds (No. 12 in school history), 467 assists (No. 6 in school history) and 269 three-pointers (No. 2 in school history) in 163 games (137 starts). Rode is one of two players in school history to be ranked in the top 15 in program history in career points, rebounds and assists.
Robinson, a fifth-year senior forward, is currently holding a 3.78 GPA while pursuing a master's degree in sport management. Last May, Robinson earned a bachelor's degree in sport management with a minor in psychology and finished his undergraduate studies with a 3.57 GPA.
Robinson, who hails from Kearney, Neb., appeared in 31 games for the Flames during the 2023-24 season, averaging 5.0 ppg and 2.8 rpg. He scored a season-high 14 points on his Senior Day against Western Kentucky on March 9, an 82-79 Liberty victory. Robinson finishes his Liberty career ranked inside the top 35 in program history in points and rebounds. His 951 points are 34th most in school history, while his 522 boards rank 19th. Robinson appeared in 163 games, tied for the second most of any player in program history.
Porter, a guard, is a business administration major. The sophomore is currently holding a 3.83 GPA. Porter earned a spot on this year's CUSA All-Academic team for his efforts in the classroom.
He appeared in and started all 32 games during his second season in Lynchburg. Porter finished the year averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 assists (second on team) and 2.8 rebounds per game. The Ashland, Ky. native currently ranks 20th in the nation and first in CUSA in assist/turnover ratio (3.05). Porter notched five or more assists 12 times this year and scored in double figures on 10 occasions.
