
O’Neill, Turchetto Excel at ITA Conference Masters Championship

ROME, Ga. – Liberty women's tennis' Daniella O'Neill and Maria Turchetto went 3-2 at the ITA Conference Masters Championship in Rome, Ga. this weekend. The pair dropped their first match but rattled off three straight victories ending with an appearance in the consolation final.
The pair finishes with an 8-4 record playing together this fall.
The Liberty duo began the event with a 6-2, 6-2 loss to South Carolina State's Sofiya Chursina and Hind Semlali. The two rebounded the next day with back-to-back triumphs. The first was a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory over a pair from NJIT followed with a gritty, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) win over a doubles team from Fordham.
The pair began play on Saturday with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Cal State Fullerton's Sein Myoung and Mariia Nikitash. The two then matched up against Cornell's Emma Baker and Hoi Ki Jenny Wong. The Lady Flames' duo forced a tiebreaker but fell in the first set and nearly forced a second tiebreaker in the second set. The pair's journey at the event ultimately came to an end with a 7-6 (7-4), 5-7 defeat.
The ITA Conference Masters Championship consists of players, designated by each Division I conference selecting one singles player and one doubles team from each gender to participate in the event. O'Neill and Turchetto were selected by Conference USA following a 2-1 performance together at the 1014 CUSA Women's Tennis Championship.
