Women’s Tennis Adds Celina Joseph to 2024-25 Roster

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty women's tennis and head coach Dash Connell have announced the signing of Celina Joseph to the 2024-25 roster. Joseph, a native of Cape Town, South Africa, joins Yu-yun Chen, Anika Lemus and Yoanna Radulova as the fourth true freshman on the current women's tennis roster.
"We are thrilled to have Celina join our group!" Connell said. "She brings a great work ethic and a strong desire to get better every day. She will fit well into our 'blue-collar' culture."
Joseph currently owns a No. 633 ITF Junior ranking, but she ranked as high as No. 384 on Jan. 9. She sports a 9.46 UTR (Universal Tennis) ranking and a 20.6 WTN (World Tennis Number).
The Cape Town, South Africa native has participated and medaled in numerous tournaments in Africa. In the past two years, Joesph has claimed seven championship titles at ITF events including three J30 Gaborone, two J30 Windhoek championships and two J5 Bulawayo titles. She has finished as a semifinalist or runner-up in eight other tournaments in that same span.
Joesph has played to an 81-28 record and a 14-2 record so far in 2024.
The freshman will join a new-look Liberty team under recently installed Head Coach Dash Connell and Assistant Coach Colby Meeks. Liberty begins its spring season on Jan. 17 hosting Longwood and Elon in a doubleheader.
