Barrett Becomes Liberty Track’s 1st CUSA Weekly Honoree

LYNCHBURG, Va. – All-American Warren Barrett became Liberty track & field's first-ever Conference USA weekly award winner on Tuesday, earning CUSA Male Field Athlete of the Week honors.
A redshirt senior from Montego Bay, Jamaica, Barrett was previously a two-time ASUN Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week (Dec. 7, 2022 and Jan. 25, 2023).
Barrett excelled in his first competition in 10 months, Friday at The Burg Open. He uncorked a 61-10.5 shot put in round five, winning the event by 11.5 feet. That impressive mark ranks No. 8 nationally this season and is the best performance by a CUSA shot putter by more than eight feet.
Although Barrett is expected to take this weekend off from competition, many of his teammates will take part in the fourth annual Brant Tolsma Invitational. Events are scheduled Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
