
McGhee Signs Exhibit 10 Contract With Indiana Pacers

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Darius McGhee has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Indiana Pacers.
McGhee becomes the fifth player in Liberty men's basketball history to sign an NBA deal. Liberty's other previous players that signed NBA deals include Caleb Homesley (2020/Washington Wizards), Seth Curry (2013/Memphis Grizzles), Peter Aluma (1998/Sacramento Kings), and Julius Nwosu (1995/San Antonio Spurs).
McGhee competed for the Pacers in the 2023 NBA Summer League. He averaged 6.5 points and 2.0 assists per game.
McGhee is looking to become the fourth Liberty Flame to make an active NBA roster during the regular season and join Curry, Nwosu and Aluma.
McGhee had an award-winning 2022-23 campaign in what was his final year playing for the Flames. The Roxboro, N.C. native was a 2022-23 AP All-American honorable mention selection and earned his third straight ASUN Player of the Year honor this past season.
McGhee was also a NABC District 3 first team selection and named to the USBWA District III team while being named a finalist for both the 2022-23 Lute Olson National Player of the Year and Lou Henson National Player of the Year awards. McGhee earned his second straight Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Player of the Year award in April.
McGhee set the Liberty and ASUN all-time career scoring records and finished his time as a Flame with 2,685 career points. He paced the Flames in scoring and ranked third nationally in scoring average at 22.8 points per game while finishing No. 2 in the country in total points (821). The redshirt senior guard led the country in three-pointers made (162, new program record), finished second nationally in three-pointers per game (4.50) and ended his career ranked second in NCAA history for career threes (529).
McGhee's other recognitions during his final campaign included: four-time ASUN Player of the Week, ASUN All-Tournament team, Cancun Challenge All-Tournament team, game MVP of the Hall of Fame Classic, 2022-23 John R. Wooden Award® presented Wendy's® Preseason Top 50 Watch List, 2022-23 Lute Olson National Player of the Year Award Watch List and 2023 Bob Cousy Award Watch List.
McGhee guided Liberty to its seventh straight 20-win season and a 27-9 record during the 2022-23 campaign. McGhee and the Flames advanced to a fifth conference title game in the last six seasons and received at-large berth to the NIT for the first time in school history. He is also Liberty's winningest individual in program history, ending his career with 131 victories.
