Ferguson Makes History as USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American Honorable Mention Selection

2023 USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I All-Americans
Liberty’s Lizzy Ferguson made program history, as she was tabbed a USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I All-American honorable mention selection.
Ferguson is the first All-American in school history. The fifth-year senior attacker was an ASUN All-Conference first team and ASUN All-Tournament team honoree this spring.
Ferguson finished the season with a school-record 182 draw controls and currently ranks third nationally in draw controls per game (9.58). She is the program’s all-time leader in career draws with 288.
Ferguson’s standout season also saw the attacker tallied 33 goals (third on team) to go along with 11 assists (fifth on squad) and 44 points (third on team) in 19 games (all starts). The Fort Washington, Pa. native finished the year with 29 ground balls (third on team) and 23 caused turnovers (tied for second on team) for a Liberty squad which is in the top five nationally in both caused turnovers per game (No. 4, 12.47) and ground balls per game (No. 5, 19.58). Ferguson’s career year saw her notch career bests in draw controls, goals, assists, points, ground balls and caused turnovers.
Ferguson earned two ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honors (March 21 and 28) and one ASUN Player of the Week accolade (Feb. 28) during the regular season. The senior captain guided Liberty (12-7) to a perfect 7-0 ASUN record and its first outright regular season crown.
In two ASUN Championship games, Ferguson totaled 16 draw controls, two goals, three assists, five points, four ground balls and four caused turnovers. In seven ASUN regular contests, Ferguson recorded 83 draw controls, 14 goals, seven assists, 21 points, 10 ground balls and six caused turnovers.
Ferguson wraps up her Liberty career with 288 draw controls, 64 goals, 16 assists, 80 points, 50 ground balls and 44 caused turnovers in 64 appearances (34 starts).
