The Flames will face the Delta Devils for the fourth time ever and first since Nov. 23, 2016. Liberty is 3-0 all-time versus MVSU. The Flames won the last meeting by a 70-55 score at the Vines Center in Lynchburg.
Liberty is currently on a 19-game home winning streak, tied for the second longest streak in the nation at present.
The Flames (6-2) will be looking to rebound after their first two losses of the season last week at the Field of 68 Media Network Tip-Off event in Boca Raton, Fla. Liberty fell 83-58 to No. 13 Florida Atlantic (Thursday) and 76-67 to Charleston (Friday).
Liberty is No. 43 in the first NCAA Men's Basketball NET Rankings of the 2023-24 season, released Monday. The Flames are also No. 61 in the KenPom out of 362 Division I teams.
The Flames are No. 4 in the nation in three-pointers per game (11.4), No. 9 in effective field goal percentage (59.0) and No. 19 in three-point field goal percentage (39.9).
Kyle Rode is Liberty's leading scorer this season at 15.3 ppg. The forward is 25th in school history with 1,166 career points.
Liberty received seven votes in last week's AP Poll. Two weeks ago, the Flames also received seven votes.
This will be Liberty's 11th all-time game on Dec. 5. The Flames are 7-3 all-time on this date. Liberty's last game on this date was in 2020, an 86-64 triumph over Bluefield at Liberty Arena. Darius McGhee led the way with 21 points. Ten Flames scored four or more points in the game.
