Liberty Moves Up to No. 20 in Associated Press Poll

A perfect regular season record has moved Liberty up to No. 20 in this week's Associated Press national football poll.

Following a 42-28 road win at UTEP on Saturday, Liberty moves up two spots in the Associated Press poll and remains ranked No. 22 in the Coaches Poll.

Liberty has now been ranked in the Associated Press poll for the last four weeks and back-to-back weeks in the Coach Poll.

The Flames made program history last Tuesday night when Liberty cracked the College Football Playoff rankings for the first time at No. 25.

Liberty is off to its best start in school history with a 12-0 record and an 8-0 mark in its first season as a member of Conference USA. The Flames will host the CUSA Football Championship game on Dec. 1 against New Mexico State.

Since moving to the FBS level in 2018, Liberty has been nationally ranked in three different seasons (2020, 2022 and 2023). The Flames have been ranked 14 total weeks by the Associated Press and 11 weeks in the Coaches poll.

Last year, Liberty was ranked No. 23 in both polls on Oct. 30 and No. 19 after its upset win over Arkansas, the program's first-ever victory over a SEC program.

Liberty's highest national ranking was following the 2020 season when Liberty was ranked No. 17 in the final Associated Press poll and No. 18 in the last Coaches Poll.

Liberty is coming off a 42-28 victory over UTEP to wrap up the program's first-ever perfect record-season record at 12-0. The win also gave the Flames the outright CUSA regular season title with an 8-0 league record.

Following a perfect regular season performance, the Flames will look to capture their first-ever FBS conference title when they welcome New Mexico State (10-3, 7-1 CUSA) back to Williams Stadium for the 2023 CUSA Football Championship on Friday. Earlier this year, Liberty jumpstarted its undefeated record in CUSA play with a 33-17 victory over the Aggies on Sept. 9 at home.
