- Liberty used a 19-2 second half run to pull away from Wichita State for an 83-66 win in Friday's semifinals.
- The Flames and Catamounts will be meeting for the first time. Vermont topped Saint Louis 78-68 in the other semifinal. This will be the fifth championship game all-time at the Myrtle Beach Invitational.
- Kyle Rode scored a career-high 31 points and made a career-best seven threes in the win over the Shockers. He added five boards, three assists and two steals. Rode is averaging 25.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg 2.0 apg and 2.5 spg in the tournament while shooting 51.7 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from long range. On the season, Rode is No. 6 in the nation in total threes (16) and No. 7 in three-pointers per game (4.00).
- Liberty ranks No. 5 in the nation in three-pointers per game (12.5), No. 18 in effective field goal percentage (61.1), No. 22 in three-point percentage (40.7) and No. 26 in scoring margin (25.8).
- The Flames are 5-1 on a neutral floor since the start of the 2022-23 campaign, including a 3-0 record this year. Liberty has won all three of those games by double digits, and all four of its wins this season have come by at least 12 points.
- Liberty is currently No. 46 in the KenPom rankings. The Flames finished No. 46 in the NET Rankings and No. 48 in the KenPom last year.
- Liberty's last in-season tournament title was the DC Holiday Hoops Fest in Dec. 2019. That season, the Flames won that event as well as the Island of the Bahamas Showcase on the way to a 30-4 season (school record for wins).
