LYNCHBURG, Va. – After scoring in double figures in two of her first three career games, Liberty's Elisabeth Aegisdottir has been named Conference USA Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.
A forward from Grindavik, Iceland, Aegisdottir averaged 8.0 ppg and 3.3 rpg while knocking down three triples during Liberty's 2-1 week.
Aegisdottir's best performance of the week came during an 84-81 overtime win at Stephen F. Austin on Friday. She scored all 12 of her points after halftime of the Lady Flames' come-from-behind victory, and it was Aegisdottir's deflection on defense which led to Asia Boone's game-winning layup with 15.9 seconds remaining.
Aegisdottir then tallied 10 points and hit a pair of three-pointers during Sunday's 75-57 setback at No. 13 Texas.
Liberty will return to action Sunday at North Carolina A&T, with tipoff slated for 2 p.m. inside the Corbett Sports Center. The game will air on FloHoops.
