
McCaw Back on Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List

Texas native Cooper McCaw is once again recognized for his efforts on and off the field as he has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
The watch list announced today will be narrowed to up to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to five finalists in December.
The narrowed list will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans, and previous winners. The finalists will be brought to Tyler for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 11, 2023.
Today’s watch list includes 63 players from nine different conferences and two independents (American Athletic, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Conference USA, Mountain West, Pac-12, SEC, and Sun Belt). Players on the list represent universities from 32 different states and 53 schools.
McCaw graduated from Grapevine Faith Christian School in Grapevine, Texas. The redshirt senior was also named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, last year.
McCaw is Liberty’s most experienced returning offensive linemen, having played in 48 career games and started 26 contests. He started 11 of 12 games at right tackle in 2021 and was selected to the 2020 Phil Steele Postseason All-Independent second team.
Liberty finished the 2021 season with an 8-5 record and defeated Eastern Michigan in the LendingTree Bowl in Mobile, Ala., marking Liberty’s third-straight bowl game win.
Liberty is just one of five FBS teams in the country who have won a bowl game each of the last three seasons, joining Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky and Louisiana.
The Flames finished the 2021 season ranked No. 8 in the country in passing yards per completion (14.69), No. 25 in scoring offense (33.6 points per game) and No. 35 in first down offense (297) and total offense (436.2 yards per game).
Schlittler was part of an offensive line that helped block for quarterback Malik Willis, who was selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans
Willis finished the 2021 season ranked No. 8 in the country in points responsible for (242/18.6 per game), No. 18 in passing touchdowns (27), No. 20 total offense (287.7 yards per game), and No. 20 in passing yards per competition (13.83).
