
Kipchirchir Races to Bobcat Invitational Men’s 800 Title

Liberty’s Ally Kipchirchir raced to victory in the men’s 800 on the final day of the Bobcat Invitational, Saturday at the Texas State Track & Field Complex.
Kipchirchir’s first 800 of the 2022 outdoor season saw him clock 1:50.80 to edge Kansas State’s Travis Hodge by 0.23 seconds for victory.
Freshman teammate Isaiah Schulties was not far behind, placing third in the heat and fourth overall with a new personal-best 800 time of 1:51.75.
In the women’s 800, Annamarie McKenzie posted her best time as a Lady Flame (2:15.37). Racing in her home state, McKenzie tied for eighth place in the 46-member field.
One day after splitting 54.74 on the anchor leg of the 4 x 400 at the Texas Relays, Janai Scott lowered her open 400 personal best by more than two seconds in San Marcos. Scott’s 55.48 effort won her heat and placed sixth out of 39 runners overall.
