The Liberty women’s tennis team has announced the addition of Sadie Daavettila for the 2023-24 school year.
“Sadie comes from a great tennis family and has a big game to go with her incredible speed and tremendous work ethic,” Maren said. “I have no doubt that she will add to the strength of our team and help us accomplish our lofty goals!”
Daavettila is a native of Grand Ledge, Mich. A four-star recruit, her highest United States junior ranking is No. 33 and highest state ranking in Michigan is No. 3. Daavettila’s highest UTR to date is 9.33, and she won the ITA Summer Circuit Tournament in Sandusky, Ohio this past July.
“I chose Liberty because of the amazing coaches, top-notch tennis facility, beautiful campus, great Christian culture and the strong education. I’m really looking forward to being coached by Coach Maren, meeting new friends and becoming part of the tennis family,” Daavettila said. “I want to also improve my tennis skills and have the opportunity to grow in my faith. I can’t wait for the fall season to begin!”
Daavettila’s other accolades include winning two ITA summer championships, multiple-time Midwest Player of the Year and Midwest champion in 2018 and 2019. She was also considered a Blue Chip recruit.
Daavettila comes from a tennis family. Her sister Sara played for North Carolina and was the No. 1-ranked player in the country in 2021 and is currently on the WTA Pro Tour.
