
Gray Wins Women's Javelin on Friday

Liberty's Jamie Gray won the women's javelin, the only event the Flames competed in on the opening day of the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational on Friday.
Gray recorded the three longest throws among the 21-member field, including her winning 117-9 effort in round five. The sophomore ended up 15 inches ahead of runner-up Elle Warnick of Southern Virginia in the final standings.
Freshman Madeline Hunt was the Lady Flames' only other entrant in the event. She reached 99-7 for seventh place in her collegiate javelin debut.

The 93rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays will conclude on Saturday. Liberty's first event will begin at noon Eastern, when Lizbeth Joseph and Makenzy Mizera compete in Section B of the women's triple jump.
Additionally, the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational will feature a full day of action on Saturday, beginning with the men's hammer and women's shot put at 9 a.m.
