The Starting 5 - Liberty's Top Storylines
• Liberty (16-11, 9-5 ASUN) will open its final road swing of the regular season at Lipscomb (7-21, 4-11 ASUN) on Saturday.
• The Lady Flames will attempt to extend their current four-game winning streak and remain in the hunt for the ASUN Championship's No. 2 seed.
• Liberty is 4-0 all-time versus Lipscomb. However, the Lady Flames had to rally from a 14-point deficit to edge the Bisons 64-60 in overtime, Jan. 18 at the Vines Center.
• Keyen Green, the 2018 Big South Player of the Year, is making a successful return from an ankle injury which sidelined her for the entire 2018-19 season. She scored 20 points during the first meeting with Lipscomb, including the game-winning putback with 1:08 left in OT. Green needs five points to become one of Liberty's top 10 scorers in program history.
• Junior point guard Ashtyn Baker is this week's ASUN Player of the Week after a career-high 26-point outing during Monday's win over North Florida. She helped Northpoint Christian School capture back-to-back state titles at Allen Arena in 2016 and 2017.
Notes and Anecdotes - Liberty vs. Lipscomb
• Saturday's game will feature both of this week's ASUN Conference award winners. Liberty junior point guard Ashtyn Baker was named ASUN Player of the Week for the first time in her career, while Lipscomb's Casey Collier swept the Newcomer of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors.
• Liberty is 4-0 all-time against Lipscomb. The Lady Flames will attempt to make the Bisons the first ASUN opponent against whom they have recorded five wins all-time.
• Saturday marks Lipscomb's regular-season finale. The Bisons are locked into the ASUN Championship's No. 8 seed after missing the tournament in 2019. Lipscomb will visit No. 1 seed FGCU in the quarterfinals next Saturday.
• Liberty has clinched a home game for the ASUN quarterfinals but could finish with either the No. 2, 3 or 4 seed.
• Liberty's Ashtyn Baker helped Northpoint Christian School win back-to-back Tennessee II-A state titles at Allen Arena in 2016 and 2017. Meanwhile, Lady Flames Head Coach Carey Green hails from Louisville, Tenn., and Emily Lytle is a Memphis native.
• Lipscomb is under the direction of first-year head coach Lauren Sumski, who is only 27 years old. Conversely, 63-year-old Carey Green is in his 21st year at the helm of the Lady Flames.
What's at Stake?
• With a win on Saturday, Liberty would be in no worse than a tie for second place in the ASUN standings heading to the final date of conference play on Monday.
• Liberty is currently tied with Jacksonville and North Alabama for second place in the ASUN. The Lady Flames would win a tiebreaker with Jacksonville but lose a tiebreaker with North Alabama.
• The Lady Flames need to win one of their final two regular-season games to finish with 10+ conference victories for the 21st consecutive season. The streak began during Carey Green's first season as head coach (1999-2000), when Liberty went 12-2 in the Big South.
