The support and growth of Flames Nation has hit a record mark, surpassing 5,000 members of the Flames Club for the first time.
As a source of key funding for student-athletes, coaches and the athletics department, the Flames Club supports Liberty's 580 student-athletes on the field and in the classroom.
Funds contribute to physical preparedness in the weight room and athletic training, leadership development and mental health, academic support, nutrition, resources for championships, spiritual development and capital projects in athletics.
During the last five years, the Flames Club has grown from 1,320 members in 2018 to 5,010 today with additional growth anticipated before the membership year closes on June 30.
During those same five years, members have contributed $12,166,463 to support student-athletes. In 2022, the last completed membership year, donations hit a record high of $4.1 million contributed.
“Congratulations to Mike Hagen and the Flames Club staff on reaching this milestone,” said Director of Athletics Ian McCaw. “We are grateful for the growth and engagement of Flames Nation, and appreciative of the generosity of our donors.”
Fans from around the globe have joined to support Liberty’s student-athletes. In January 2023, the Flames Club hit a new first with donations from all 50 states, with an additional eight countries represented as well.
"We are extremely blessed to have such a supportive fan base and their efforts to make sure our student-athletes have the resources they need to compete for championships have been amazing,” remarked Mike Hagen, Flames Club Executive Director and Associate AD. “I am thankful for each of our donors and their support for the vision of Training Champions for Christ."
"Our leadership has been supportive with new premium spaces and opportunities to engage fans,” commented Hagen about the campus-wide support. “Finally, this wouldn't have been possible without the tireless efforts of the Flames Club and Ticket Office staff to meet the expectations of our great fans."
