Liberty sophomore Nicaise Muamba won his first qualifying match on Saturday afternoon at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Canada F6 Futures, held at the Club at White Oaks.
Muamba, in his first year as a member of the Flames, knocked off Rached Rahini of Canada in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). Muamba, who also hails from Canada, advances to the next round of qualifying on Sunday, where he will face Alexander Knight of the United States.
Muamba will need to win three bouts to reach the singles main draw, which will begin on Monday. His win on Saturday was the first of any Liberty men's tennis player so far this season.
