
McDowell Signs National Letter of Intent to Join Liberty

Liberty Head Men's Basketball Coach Ritchie McKay has announced the signing of Keegan McDowell, a 6-5 guard, to a national letter of intent for the 2017-18 academic year.
"Keegan McDowell will be one of those players that people will one day say ‘Wow, that kid is a steal!'," remarked McKay. "He comes from an incredibly well-coached program, really has a great understanding of the game and he fits perfectly into our system and culture."
McDowell will come to Liberty from Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he plays for head coach Carl Kremer.
As a junior, McDowell earned All-GCL South second-team honors, averaging 9.3 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per contest. He finished the year shooting 40.0 percent from the field, including a 46.0 mark from three-point range.
Last year, Moeller posted a 24-5 overall record and was a Division I Regional semifinalist and he earned Cincinnati Enquirer Division I All-City second team honors.
Moeller has also excelled in the classroom, earning Academic First Honors each quarter he has attended Moeller High School.
Along with his standout play at Moeller, McDowell plays summer travel AAU basketball with Shining Stars Sports under the direction of head coach Mike Price.
McDowell, the son of David and Jennifer McDowell, comes from an athletic family who already has ties to Liberty. Delaney McDowell is a member of Liberty's track & field program, who was named the 2016 Big South Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year.
David McDowell played football at William & Mary (1982-84). McDowell's other siblings have also competed collegiately with his brother Quinn having a standout career at William & Mary in basketball, sister, Breanna, swimming at Louisville and sister, Kayla, competing in basketball at Missouri.
