With the spring semester now underway, LFSN reporter Alan York was able to catch up with Kristie Beitz to recap the success of Liberty's student-athletes in the classroom this fall.
For the past two and half years, Liberty's student-athletes have maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or higher, finishing the fall with a cumulative 3.14 GPA. The fall mark ties the highest recorded GPA in athletics department history, which Liberty achieved at the conclusion of the 2015 spring semester.
Under the direction of Liberty's Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academic Affairs Kristie Beitz, Liberty currently has 18 of its 20 NCAA Division I athletics programs with a cumulative team GPA above a 3.0 mark following the fall semester of the 2015-16 academic year.
The Academic Affairs for Athletics staff has played a huge part in helping more than 62 percent of Liberty's student-athletes maintain above a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Included in the group are 53 student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Below is a list of the individual academic awards Liberty's student-athletes received during the fall semester.
