Leading into each weekend's football match-up, the Flames Sports Network will release a video preview package, taking an in-depth look into Liberty's upcoming opponent.
During this week's FSN Opponent Preview, Alan York of the Flames Sports Network takes a look at Liberty's game at Stony Brook, this year's Big South championship match-up.
Both teams come into the game with identical 5-0 records in Big South play. The victor in the game will walk away as the league's first-ever 6-0 team and be awarded the Big South title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs.
The afternoon clash will feature two of the most dynamic FCS offenses in the country. Stony Brook currently ranks No. 2 in the country, averaging 39.50 points per game, while Liberty comes in at No. 8 by averaging 36.40 points per contest.
Stony Brook does most of its damage on the ground, as the Seawolves rank No. 4 nationally in rushing offense (287.40 yards per game) and have rushed for 36 touchdowns.
The Flames use a different method to move the ball up and down the gridiron, as Liberty ranks No. 23 in the country in passing offense (261.20 yards per game) and has thrown for 20 touchdowns.
Each time the Flames and the Seawolves have met on the football field, the home team has walked away the victor. Liberty won home games in 2008 (33-0) and 2010 (54-28), while Stony Brook scored a last-minute touchdown to take a 36-33 victory away from Liberty in 2009 on Long Island.
