Liberty's student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) participates in various community events in and around the city of Lynchburg. In honor of the trick-or-treating tradition that coincides with Halloween, Liberty's SAAC group teamed with the Runk & Pratt Nursing Home for "Safe Sugar Treating."
The event involved local children coming to the nursing home to do their trick-or-treating. The kids would go from room to room and the patients would hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters. There were also various games and snacks for the participants.
Liberty SAAC members and other Liberty student-athletes helped the patients hand out candy and assisted with the games/prizes and serving of refreshments. There were over 30 Liberty participants and over 200 visitors to the nursing home for the event. The majority of the participants were from Leesville and Brookville Elementary schools.
The student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.
