Robert Goodman joined the Flames’ athletic department staff as the Associate Athletics Director for Sales and Promotions in May 2017. He was promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Revenue Generation and Branding Advancement in January 2024.
In his current position, Goodman directly oversees the Fan Engagement, Ticket Operations & Sales, Broadcast & Digital Media, Strategic Communications and Media Rights departments. Also, he is the men’s golf team, cheerleading and marching band administrator.
Goodman brings over 20 years of experience working in college athletics to Liberty. From 2002-16, he served as the Senior Associate Commissioner of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). In that role, Goodman oversaw marketing, sponsorship and tickets and championships. He was also directly responsible for the baseball and men’s and women’s golf championships while serving as an NCAA site representative for men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse.
Prior to his time at the CAA, Goodman was the Assistant Director of the Virginia Athletics Foundation at his alma mater, Virginia. From 1994-2000, he worked as the Director of Marketing and Promotions at William & Mary. Goodman was a Ticket Manager of the Richmond Braves (1992-94) after he graduated from college.
Goodman earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Virginia in 1992 and a mini MBA from Richmond in 2012.
Goodman and his wife, Kristyn, reside in Lynchburg, Va. Kristyn is the owner/operator of The Anything and More Store in Lynchburg. They have two daughters, Kelsey and Amy. Kelsey is the assistant volleyball coach at Seton Hall, while Amy is in Occupational Therapy school at James Madison.
