Matt Anthony serves the Liberty Athletics Department as the Assistant AD for Governance and Compliance, a role he undertook in October of 2023.
Prior to his current role with the Compliance team, Anthony served as a member of the Academic Affairs for Athletics staff for 16 years. Anthony was named the Associate Director of the Academic Affairs for Athletics department in 2012. Anthony started with the department as an academic coordinator in 2007, before being promoted to assistant director the following year. He served as assistant director for four years before ascending to his current position.
Anthony currently works with and oversees the academic progress of Liberty’s baseball, men’s & women’s tennis, swimming and women’s soccer programs. He is member of the National Academic Advising Association and the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) and is an Individually Certified Professional through N4A as well. Anthony has also been a co-presenter at N4A regional and national conventions.
Anthony graduated from Liberty with his bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2004 and his MBA in 2007. Prior to working with the Academic Affairs for Athletics office, Anthony served in resident recruitment as an admissions counselor (2004-05) and in financial aid as the Coordinator of Financial Aid for NCAA Compliance (2005-07).
A resident of Lynchburg, Va., Anthony and his wife Mary have two children, Bailey and Owen.
