Mathis Bondaz was appointed as a Liberty Men's Tennis Assistant Coach in the Summer of 2026. Bondaz joined the Liberty coaching staff following five years in the collegiate ranks between three programs, Texas A&M (2021-22), VCU (2022-24) and Arizona State (2024-26).
Bondaz collected an overall 48-33 singles record and a 21-27 doubles mark. He has sported career-highs of a No. 1107 ATP singles ranking and a No. 495 ITF singles ranking. Bondaz also sported a career-high No. 21 ITA singles ranking after joining Arizona State (Aug. 27).
In his first season at Texas A&M, Bondaz posted a 10-4 singles record and a 3-1 doubles mark. He transferred to VCU for his sophomore year, where he spent the next two seasons. With the Rams, Bondaz collected a 32-18 singles record and a 18-19 doubles mark.
Bondaz earned an 8-6 singles mark in his first year at VCU before breaking out in his junior season. He was named the Atlantic 10 (A10) Most Outstanding Performer at the conclusion of the 2024 season with a 24-12 singles record and 15 doubles triumphs. That same year, Bondaz secured a runner-up finish in the 2023 ITA Atlantic Regional, hosted by Liberty. He also topped Liberty's Rafael Marques Da Silva 6-3, 6-4, in a match in Richmond, Va.
At Arizona State, Bondaz posted an overall 16-15 singles mark, playing at the top of the lineup, primarily in the No. 2 position, of a team that consistently ranked in the top-30 of the ITA national team rankings.
While he is at Liberty, Bondaz aims to pursue a master's degree in Ministry & Theology.
