Elijah Cuffee began as a Graduate Manager for the Liberty Men’s Basketball team in June 2022. Cuffee’s primary role is supporting strength and conditioning for the team and individual player development. He is currently pursuing pursuing a master’s degree in exercise science at Liberty. Cuffee will complete a CSCS certification this winter and plans to serve as a men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach in the future.
Cuffee was a former player for the Flames from 2017-21. Cuffee won three ASUN titles with the Flames (2019, 2020 and 2021) and was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Year as a senior during the 2020-21 campaign as well as an ASUN All-Conference second team honoree. Cuffee and the Flames won a program-record 30 games in 2020. In 2019, they won their first ASUN and defeated No. 5 seed Mississippi State in the NCAA Tournament First Round.
Cuffee scored a season-high 16 points in Liberty’s ASUN title game win over Lipscomb in 2020. In 2021, he led Liberty with 16 points against first round NCAA Tournament foe No. 4 seed Oklahoma State. Cuffee was a Big South All-Freshman team selection in 2018.
Cuffee finished his Flames career with 981 career points (No. 31 in school history), 265 assists (No. 20 in program history) and 335 rebounds (No. 49 in school history).
Cuffee is originally from Poca, W, Va. He and his wife Sydney, a former Liberty volleyball student-athlete were married in May 2022.
