Student Athlete Q&A

What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
I fell in love with what Coach Chadwell vision and what Liberty stands for as a university. Then got up to see the facilities and developing relationships with staff made it feel like home. They are genuine and want what’s best for you, and that means more than anything to me.

Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
My mom and dad inspire me the most. I watched them work as hard as they can to provide for our family and then after long days still go out back and play catch or have fun with us. Seeing there love for others and want that they had to make a difference in this world for the Lord inspired me more than anything.

What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
In the second round of playoffs my senior year I threw a 65-yard Hail Mary down by 1 to my best friend that won the game and advanced us to the next round. All of my siblings and their kids were all able to come to the game, which made it even more special. I can just remember my teammate catching the ball and then everything going crazy and I look over and I see my oldest brother running on the field to where I was and giving me a hugged excited.

If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
I would pick number 1, because my brothers wore number 1 in baseball and I looked up to them growing up wanting to be just like them. I also wore number 1 for football and baseball all my years in high school.

Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
Father: Jon Davis: all-american offensive lineman football player at Catawba College. Mother: Lynette Davis: played field hockey at Catawba College and was named female athlete of the year. Brother J.D Davis: played baseball at The Citadel and Nicholls State. Brother: Josh Davis: played baseball at Clemson and The Citadel.

Do you possess any special or unique talents, interests, or hobbies?
I love to play pickleball and would say I’m a pretty good player. But other than that I just love anything with competition.
